Happy Father's Day

My Dad about to walk me down the aisle.  One of the happiest moments in my life.

I am so incredibly blessed to have an awesome Dad and a husband who is a wonderful father to our son.  I must say, it wasn't always this way.  My Dad and I have been through some rough times that started when I was a child and continued until my young adult years.  There were some misunderstandings, blow-ups, and a lot of issues that stemmed from both of us just being young and silly.  Any who...enough of the negative, because I enjoy what our relationship has become.

Once, I called my Dad crying because of a huge argument I had with a friend.  This is what he told me: "Stop crying!  Don't show them your weaknesses.  Regardless of whether you're right or wrong, I'm always going to be on your side because you're my daughter."  As simple as this statement is, it meant the world to me in my time of despair (over nothing, but nonetheless); to me it meant that I always had at least one person in my corner even if I was the problem.  This is the same love that our Father in Heaven has extended to us with no strings attached and no bad history either.

If you're here today and you haven't had a great relationship with your dad or your husband/ex-husband/boyfriend/father of your child has been less than exemplary.  Please don't take Father's Day as an opportunity to bash them or reiterate that you are mother and father.

Please lean on the loving mercy and grace extended to you by your eternal Father, who has no human flaws, will always love you and always care for you!

Happy Father's Day to all the fathers out there!  May you have a very blessed weekend!

Please share some words of wisdom or happy moments from your Dad!  I'd love to hear them!

  2. LOL!!! That's all that matters is that he's there for you! Just give him grace where he falls short.
